Tutorials vs. Co-Ops: What to Know
We often get questions about why we price the way we do. Here's why:
Tutorials are generally a drop-off program where families don't have to worry about teaching in order to participate. We absolutely welcome you to stay if you'd like to, but it is not required! However, this means that we hire experienced teachers to guide your child through the school day.
Co-ops are just that- a cooperative approach to learning where parents teach in exchange for their children participating in the program.
We think both are really cool- here's why we operate as a tutorial:
1. Not everyone's spiritual gift is teaching- and we want people to thrive in the place they are best suited. We also want to make sure that the students have the best experience possible- and a GREAT teacher contributes a lot to the experience.
2. Generally, co-ops require some part in lesson planning by the parents. We plan the curriculum out for our teachers because it's a BIG job. Our lesson plans are designed to review and drill through the semester and we carefully curate ideas, projects, literature, and games to make sure they flow well, call back to previous studies, and are suited for our wide age-range.
3. More people means more opinions. We want to foster community and fellowship, but we also know that lots of people have different views on... well, pretty much EVERYTHING. We're keeping it simple- here's the baseline. We love God, we love Yeshua/Jesus, and we believe the whole bible is true. We want to make sure that your child is receiving a quality education focused on the truth of the Bible, rather than opinions.
The bottom line is that there is a LOT that goes into making this a safe, happy, and sustainable place for everyone involved. Because we do not accept government grants or funding, we subsist on the tuition costs from members.
